TRAINING PROGRAM:  Crisis Pregnancy Training

 

MODULE BACKGROUND

The IFPA offers a national professional pregnancy and post abortion support and counselling service with offices located in Dublin, Cork, Dundalk, Galway, Letterkenny, Limerick, Monaghan, Sligo and Waterford.

The IFPA Counselling Service is a non-judgmental and confidential service offering information and support surrounding all three pregnancy options, parenting, adoption and abortion.

This training intends to provide students with an introduction to the issue of crisis pregnancy and decision making counselling within the Irish context.
 

ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS

DURATION

The IFPA Crisis Pregnancy Counselling Training will be run over 2 days: Saturday 16th May 2009 & Saturday 23rd May 2009.

Students will be required to complete both of these training days for competency in the module.

COST

The Crisis Pregnancy training is available at the cost of €500 per student. This cost covers course materials for the training. Application Form

Please note: The content covered throughout the training is of a sensitive nature. If students feel that they require additional support after any of the sessions, the course facilitators will be available throughout the training.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the IFPA Crisis Pregnancy Training, students will have the ability to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Display an understanding of contextual issues surrounding crisis pregnancy within Ireland

  • Identify personal values surrounding crisis pregnancy and implications of values upon practice

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding surrounding crisis pregnancy options and referral pathways within Ireland

  • Demonstrate knowledge and basic skills in regard to decision making counselling and ethical decision making
